Angelina's & Pont des Arts Paris! Xx

It was a truly beautiful day when we walked to the Pont des Arts
through the Tuileries
after having breakfast at Angelina's on the Rue de Rivoli.

The Tuileries

The Parisiennes are very sceptical of what they think of
as this 'rather vulgar' ritual of tourists
fixing padlocks to their beloved bridge.
Somehow trying to 'lock love in' seems to be rather futile.

But it has become a
unstoppable customisation of this romantic place,
and I think has a beauty all of its own.

We certainly made our own locks
as has become the custom, and threw the keys into the river,
making a wish, the locks and keys
forever now a part of Paris.

Sophie my daughter wrote her name
- her middle name is Delphine -
on a golden lock.
And I wrote one for our family:
Me, my son Josh, 20, Sophie 13
and our cats Iggy and Nala
on a fuchsia lock.
We were with our dear Friends
Mary and Bobby (below) who were over
from Virginia.
