Trends AW 13/14: The Dress as a Canvas! Xx

We have always known that Fashion has been inextricable from Art,
and this AW13/14 Season
it was more evident than ever,
with designers taking obvious inspiration
from their favourite artists.
Dolce and Gabbana from the Mosaics of Moreale,
Peter Pilotto as before from El Greco,
L'Wren Scott from the ornate designs of Gustav Klimt,
and Raf Simons at Dior from the Surrealists.
There was brocade at Marquesa who was inspired by a 1700s Goya painting
Oscar de la Renta was influenced by brocade and tapestry,
which made the front of dresses look like fabulous pictures,
and Mary Katrantzou as usual sent the most amazing Realist imagery
down the catwalk in incredible shapes.
We adored the painterly abstract images of flowers at Bottega Veneta,
Valentino dresses were walking tapestrys,
there was abstract marble at Rodarte and Balenciaga,
and both Geometric and floral designs at Jean-Pierre Braganza.

From Tom Ford's Graphic Pop Art imagery,
J W Anderson and Stella McCartney's Cartoon prints,
House of Holland's Psychedelic patterns,
to Louise Gray's totally original modern designs
there is an abundance of inspirational creativity to be seen.

Take a look through our collection of images from AW13/14
