So we went to the Opening night of the
Fabulous Dior exhibition on the 4th Floor
at Harrods

This March, the House of Dior have collaborated with Harrods
combining French Savoir Faire and British charm.

On the fourth floor is an amazing exhibition and gorgeous Dior Cafe

that serves Lobster Club Sandwiches and
Cupcakes made to Monsieur Dior's very own recipe.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior was a keen Anglophile and

actually showed his famous debut
‘New Look’ - Collection 1947 in London
with an audience that included the Queen Mother
Princess Margaret, and Margot Fonteyn.
All the Harrods Brompton Road windows have been specially designed,
and there is a pop up store on the Ground Floor.
The windows pay homage to London's Cultural Icons
Royal Mail Post Boxes, Underground Signs.
and most notably telephone boxes, implying a cut-out of
Dior’s ‘New Look’ signature silhouette,
some painted Dior Grey

 M. Sidney Toledano – President and CEO of Christian Dior Couture :
“Like the house of Dior, Harrods is reputed for astounding and
satisfying its elegant women all over the world. This inspired collaboration
with Harrods not only draws attention to Monsieur Dior’s relationship
with the fabled department store but also affirms the house
of Dior’s continued high standards via creation and discernment.ˮ

Marigay McKee – Chief Merchant, Harrods: “We are thrilled to
be partnering with Dior, one of our most successful global luxury brands,
on such an exciting venture. Highlights of this exclusive initiative
include a unique exhibition that takes you on a fascinating journey,
unveiling intricate details of Dior’s rich heritage and a unique café concept
offering a special menu created exclusively for this event.
Our store’s famous façade will be transformed with show- stopping
window displays across the whole length of the Brompton Road,
inspired by Dior’s personal interpretation of London.ˮ

The show opens with with a superb model of the facade of 30, avenue Montaigne

The completely beautiful dress that Natalie Portman
wears in the Miss Dior Ad hangs suspended as if by nothing
in a glass case - a magical sight.

The dress is from the first show that Raf Simons designed for Christian Dior

This is the Fashion Theatre like the one set up
by Harrods in 1953 and scaled down.
There are nearly 40 of Dior Haute Couture most famous silhouettes
on mini Stockman mannequins that tell the history
of the Couture House on Avenue Montaigne.
In 1954, Monsieur Dior inaugurated the Harrods Fashion Theatre.
