In order to celebrate the journey of the
Louis Vuitton Express from Paris to the Bund,
guests were also invited to see the exhibition
“Louis Vuitton Express”
mounted inside the Plaza 66 shopping centre,
which runs from July 18th to August 12th.
It features 19th century travel-related articles
and an exceptional collection of heritage pieces
drawn from the extensive archives of Louis Vuitton.

Each Louis Vuitton Maison acts as an
international celebration of Louis Vuitton style
and elegance and brings together each all of its expertise
under one roof.
Conceived as a travel destination in its own right,
this new four-level Maison has been designed
by architect Peter Marino,
who has brought new design elements and custom-made
furniture together to create unique
and innovative Louis Vuitton experience
filled with surprising discoveries.

An oval skylight illuminates gallery-like spaces
dedicated to leather goods and ready-to-wear
for women and men, luggage, watches & jewellery,
shoes (including made-to-order) and rare &
exceptional products. Meanwhile,
planted terraces on the second and third-floors
overlook Nanjing West Road and invite
visitors to take time to relax and enjoy the view.
Specially commissioned artworks by Chinese
and international contemporary artists highlight
a sense of discovery. On the ground floor,
guests are greeted by a five-metre high ‘pagoda’,
a polished sculpture in stainless steel that sits at
the foot of an oval staircase at the heart of the store.
Entitled “Three Ponds Mirroring the Moon - 2011”,
this piece is the largest of a trio created by
Chinese artist Qiu Zhijie.

Among the other
talents featured are New York-based Teresita Fernandez,
whose sculpture hangs from the ceiling of the watches
and jewellery space; Anselm Reyle and Lionel Esteve,
whose mixed-media pieces are installed in the men’s
and women’s fashion areas respectively; and Jean Larivière,
whose travel-themed photographs hang near the service desks.
Louis Vuitton’s exceptional collections of
Haute Maroquinerie are presented in the fourth-floor Apartment,
designed for total privacy.
