April US Vogue and the Ritz Paris, Place Vendome 1e Arrt.! Xx

Jennifer Lopez looking quite spectacular on the Cover
of US Vogue photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

So here at Sparkle Style - we absolutely LOVE US Vogue
quite apart from thinking that New York City
(aside from our beloved LONDON of course)
is one of the most magical places on this planet -
American VOGUE has to be
one of our favourites.
Edited by the Fabulous Anna Wintour
Here at the on the FROW of the Burberry Prorsum
AW12 Show in London with her niece.

 - it has the Brilliant Fashion Director
Grace Coddington -

one and only Editor at Large Hamish Bowles

'I drink the French 76: vodka, sugar, lemon juice topped up with champagne:
it's the best drink ever, but
it only tastes like that in the Hemmingway bar' says Moss here in L'Espadon.
'Colin made it for my wedding. I doesn't taste at all strong - and then,
whoa, whoops-a-daisy'

We decided we should go to the Ritz Paris and try
the French 76 for ourselves -
and we had tea while we were there!

Andre Leon Talley of US Vogue of course is an Absolute Legend,
 and reading his piece in
the article about the Ritz Paris was completely fascinating
- you must get a copy.

He says that he has stayed at the Ritz Paris during Fashion Week
and the haute couture since 1988 and
'Karl Lagerfeld sends the most opulent red roses in heavy baskets
from Lachaume in the Rue Royale nearby'

Me outside Lachaume - the incredible flower shop on the Rue Royale, Paris

Leon Talley says his 'Best Fashion moment was in 1998 when Karl took over
the entire first-floor Imperial Suite for his Couture show,
to observe the twenty fifth anniversary of Mademoiselle Coco's Death.'

Amanda Harlech (below with Karl Lagerfeld) says Room 454
at the Ritz has been her home since 1998
and the staff accommodate all her strange requests:

Lady Amanda Harlech with Editor in Chief Vogue Paris Emmanuelle Alt

'I sleep in my own sheets for instance, 1920s heavy linen with embroidered pillowcases. ...My couture collection is reverently hung in the wardrobes
and my photographs are placed in the rich order
on the marble mantelpiece below a vast gilt mirror
... My shoes are laid out in a row in the fireplace, heels standing to attention.'
This reminds me of the scene where Angelina Jolie
arrives at the Hotel in Venice with Johnny Depp in the Film the Tourist
-everything perfectly in place.

The Ritz Paris closes its doors on August 1,
I would rush to see its original beauty
before it has gone.

Until next time  J Xx
