Ageless Beauty Photo Shoot for Harpers Bazaar US! Xx

For the April issue of US Harper’s Bazaar

Derek Blasberg talks to
 Timothy Greenfield-Sanders

whose work has been exhibited in many galleries including the

the Smithsonian and London's Saatchi Collection,

about his brilliant new documentary

that will show this summer on HBO in the US

About Face: The Supermodels, Then and Now.

The film, which features interviews with
all of the most photographed
from the past five decades,
premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January

                                  “These women are complex creatures;
they’re smart women who survived in a tough business,”
Timothy tells Harper’s Bazaar. “In front of the camera they come alive.
But more important, they’re beautiful on the inside and out.”

including Beverly Johnson, Carol Alt, Cheryl Tiegs, and Patti Hansen

Timothy Greenfield-Sanders was inspired to make the Documentary
when in 2009 he went to a party at Harry King's
(the Hairdresser on this shoot) New York Appartment - he explains
"I said I'd go for five minutes, but when I walked in I was floored
by all these gorgeous women in the same room," he recalls.
"It looked like a Charlie ad come to life.
And I thought, This would be the most amazing group shot."
"I was so inspired by these women,
I thought it would make an even better documentary."
"You wanted to hear what these beautiful faces had to say."

So he made About Face: The Supermodels, Then and Now,
which will air on HBO this summer.

"They're all survivors," he says of his muses.
"They defined beauty for their generations.
And they have the most fabulous personalities.'

Included in the documentary as well as the women in the Portrait
are Jerry Hall, 55, Carmen Dell'Orefice, 80,
Marisa Berenson, 65, granddaughter of Elsa Schiaparelli,
Christie Brinkley, 58, Isabella Rossellini, 59 and China Machado, 82

One woman who definitely should be here in the group, and sorely missed
is Gia Marie Carangi - one of the World's first supermodels
and you can read about her in my Post
