The first V-Day took place in New York City in June 2006
V-Day is a Global Activist Movement to Stop Violence Against
Women and Girls. V-Day is a Catalyst that promotes Creative Events
to increase awareness, raise money and revitalise the spirit of existing
anti-violence organisations.

In 2011 more than 6000 V-Day events took place around the world.  
To date the V-Day movement
has raised over $80 million and reached over 300 million people.
