Anselm Reyle for Dior

Dior's first job in 1927
when he was 22
was the manager of an Art Gallery

He hung out with his friends Jean Cocteau, Christian Berard and Max Jacob at
Le Beouf sur le Toit and through
Max Jacob met a guy called Jacques BonJean who he
opened a Gallery with
called Galerie BonJean
They exhibited Picasso, Matisse, Braque and Chirico,
Dali, Giacometti, Berard, Miro, Tchelitchew, Dali,
Calder, Klee, Giacometti, Raoul Dufy and many others.

So it is Majorly fitting that Delphine Arnault should choose to
collaborate with one of the most exciting artists around at the moment.

Anselm Reyle has been given free reign to design a range of accessories
including the iconic Lady Dior and Miss Dior handbags
and a make up collection that was showcased
in the Dior pop-up shop at last months Art Basel Miami Beach.
Fashion surrounded by Art.

Dior pop up Shop at Art Basel Miami Beach Dec 2011

According to the billionaireboysclub blog

'During Art Basel in Miami in December Pharrell attended the Dior dinner in honor of the collaboration between the brand and renown contemporary artist Anselm Reyle who designed a camo for them.  After the dinner, Pharrell was joking around with some friends about the few chairs upholstered in the fabric and before your know it one showed up at his apartment complimentary of Delphine Arnault.'

I know I would LOVE one of these chairs! Xx

Anselm Reyle who was born in Berlin in 1970
and works as Professor of Fine Arts at Hamburg University
has exhibitions coming up in Hamburg, Tokyo
and at the Modern Institute in Glasgow in 2012 so look out for those.

He uses a lot of mylar for his foil paintings
and glitter and LEDs.

Anselm sometimes applies modelling paste in several layers with a comb or rake
on camouflage canvas material.

He is inspired by eighties punk graphics but also cites abstract expressionists

Otto freundlich, Willem de Kooning & Frank Stella
as influences
