Dolce and Gabbana SS12

“Such rich shades and reflective textures bring light and vibrancy to the face,” says Pat. “Once you translate the
power play of that level of luxury into make-up you’re into the realm of sumptuous, multi-dimensional colour with depth and texture,”

"Imagine a girl gazing into a jewellery box and the reflected glow of all those gem stones and precious metals, the way they cast light, bringing luminosity to the skin in the most spellbinding way? Well, that's exactly what we're doing with the make up," says Pat McGrath of the stimulus behind the Collection. "Women look so much more sexy when they wear jewels" explains Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana adds: "It's because all women are stars…They shine!"

In the new Holiday Collection there is a new Luminous Cheek Colour blush
in Mauve Diamond £29 and two new eye shadow compacts - a duo Gems - a dramatic purple and a highlighter, and a quad Jewels with a eye pencil in topaz.

The collection also includes two Classic Cream Lipsticks and a Shine Lipstick in
deep jewel colours, two beautiful diamond lip glosses and a
lip pencil in Rose Pearl
(Pat McGrath uses this with the Classic Cream Lipstick in Purple Pearl as a cupids bow).
Two nail polishes in perfectly complimentary shades  - Amethyst and Grey Pearl, and a volumizing mascara in an incredible shade of Amethyst completes the collection.

BACKSTAGE WITH PAT MCGRATH AT DOLCE&GABBANA: MILAN FASHION WEEK
(Milan, Italy - September 2011) – At the Dolce&Gabbana Spring/Summer 2012 Ready to Wear show in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana presents a collection that evokes indulgent culinary culture and the joyful Italian spirit. Mediterranean traditions were reflected in the hot red pepper prints, the pasta adorned accessories, and the crochet fabric in pastel shades perfectly reflected embellished table cloths seen at the Italian indulgent food festival.
Backstage, the Designers’ inspiration of exuberant Italian sensuality was beautifully brought to life by Pat McGrath for Dolce&Gabbana Make Up using the vibrant and intense shades of the new Passion Duo Lipstick and Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation to create impeccably flawless and radiant complexions. Vivid green and intense purple nails depict ripe courgettes, and mouth watering aubergines.
“This season we were inspired by the charm and beauty of Southern Italy; the food, the smells and the sense of occasion. After all this is at the very heart of our culture and heritage and is so dear to us.” says Domenico Dolce. “This collection symbolizes our love for the Mediterranean spirit; from the distinctive illuminations that adorn every street and the fragrances and tastes of Mediterranean food. We see this as true Italian beauty,” agrees Stefano Gabbana.
The look created by Pat McGrath backstage brought the Designers’ love for traditional Italian cuisine and heritage to life in a way that was effortlessly glamorous, and completely embodied the sensual Italian spirit.
Using the Dolce&Gabbana Make Up Foundation Brush Pat applied small amounts of Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation to the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. She then blended the foundation moving from the centre of the face outwards to create a flawless base. Next using the Blush in Provocative and Rose, Pat created a warm and radiant glow by sweeping it over the apples of the cheeks.
On the eyes the Eyeshadow Quad in Femme Fatale was applied to create a sultry sophisticated look. Eye pencils in shades of black and rich coffee were then applied on the lids of the eyes to create definition and to make eyes pop. Finally Pat used the Secret Eyes Mascara in Black to create a gorgeous fluttering veil of volumised lashes.
On the lips Pat applied the new Passion Duo lipsticks using both Imperial and Sensation to create a gorgeously sexy full lip with an amazing blend of vibrant, moisturizing pigment and sheer gloss.
Pat used two nail colours for the show; the deep, rich Dahlia and a Wild green shade. Both with a luxurious matte finish, these colours are tipped to be must haves for SS12.
Pat McGrath explained: “I just love how the simple yet chic make up look we have created complements the stunning SS12 catwalk collection. I love the references to food in the collection and how the make up look accompanies this; plump red tomato lips, deep aubergine and fresh green nails looked amazing and using the new Creamy Foundation and Passion Duo shades was so exciting and really enhanced the look we were trying to achieve. The signature Dolce&Gabbana inspiration and heritage was again ever present on the catwalk, and I feel the vivid yet sophisticated make up really worked to bring the whole collection to life.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON AT THE DOLCE&GABBANA SS12 SHOW, MILAN
(Milan, September 25, 2011) – Face of Dolce&Gabbana Make Up Scarlett Johansson looked effortlessly striking at the SS12 Dolce&Gabbana catwalk show in Milan. With a look created by Pat McGrath using Dolce&Gabbana Make Up, Scarlett brought femininity and sophistication to the front row.
On attending the show, Scarlett Johansson said: “It’s so exciting to be here at the Dolce&Gabbana Fashion Show. I get a flavour of the fantasy and glamour of the Dolce&Gabbana world working on their make up and fragrance campaigns; but to see it in all its glory, coming down the runway, is always just magical.”
Pat McGrath created Scarlett’s look using the following products from Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up:
To begin Pat used Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation mixing two shades, Bisque and Beige, to perfectly match her skin tone and achieve a really natural and radiant finish. Pat applied this using the Foundation Brush to create a well blended and flawless complexion. To provide added luminosity Pat used a little of Perfect Finish Concealer under the eyes and around the nose.
On the apples of Scarlett’s cheeks Pat used a light sweeping of the Blush in Rosebud, and on Scarlett’s cheekbones a hint of the Illuminator in Eva created definition and radiance.
For the eyes Pat used the Eyeshadow Quad in Femme Fatale, a colour palette including slightly shimmery neutral tones; she began using the palest shade as a base for the eyes, and then built on this using the two mid tones. Finally Pat applied the darkest shade right in the sockets of Scarlett’s eyes to create subtle definition. A touch of the Eyeliner Black and Coffee on the top of the eye lids created added depth to the look.
Finally on the lips Pat used the new Passion Duo lipsticks mixing two shades; Infatuation and Incognito to create a full and sensual lip. On Scarlett’s nails the Nail Lacquer in Pink was used to finish the overall look.

Speaking about the star’s effortlessly glamorous look for the show, Pat McGrath said: “This look completely reflects Scarlett’s beauty and true sensuality. I was inspired by the classic sophistication of the Hollywood starlet but with a fun and modern edge. This is such a feminine and wearable look and I loved creating this on Scarlett”

bye for now  J Xx
